No Macbook Pro for a few days

One of my fans started to die this morning — so I dropped it off for replacement. I’m going to go through withdrawl, I know it.

Update: Got it back already. That was a 15 hour turn around time. Even I can survive 15 hours without my Macbook Pro. (Assuming I’m asleep for about seven of them.) Go AppleCare and local Apple retail stores.

After watching Keith play with Beryl this week I’m itching to scrape together a linux box to mess around with. I’ve got the parts to do it, but after years with iBooks, iMacs and now a MacBook Pro I’m no longer able to stand the noise of a standard tower-based system.

True, I’ve got my old dual-Xeon box that I still use — but for the last few months I keep it in the basement and only access it by SSH.

Anyone got a cheap noise-reduction solution?

Oh, how you are a thing of beauty. Assuming Cingular doesn’t somehow screw this one up, I cannot wait to get my hands on one come June. Apple, Inc. nailed this one.
