Time Sensitive CSS Switcher

A front-page Digg story about swapping out CSS files depending on the time of day. It’s nice to see so many people interested in the technique, I guess I’m just a little surprised people are finding the idea so groundbreaking. This guy does it with Javascript, and while that’s not a bad idea, I still think a server-side solution is best.

Link: http://www.digg.com/design/Time_Sensitive_CSS_Switcher

Energy Policy Act of 2005

I had no idea they were changing Daylight Saving Time. I’m of the opinion it’s time to drop the whole thing, and certainly not time to lengthen it.

Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_Policy_Act_of_2005#Change_to_daylight_saving_time

Time Sensitive

I spent some time this afternoon building in time and weather sensitivity to my blog’s design. I spent absolutely zero time trying to phrase that last sentence so that I didn’t sound like a complete dork.

This redesign was partly driven by Smashing Magazine’s ‘30 dark designs’ article, partly driven by Amy spending all weekend blogging, and partly driven by the fact that ever since Dunstan Orchard took down his blog I’ve wanted to do something like this.

It’s a first step, there are only basic designs in place for sunny day, cloudy day and night. I think I’d definitely like to get a “twilight” one in there, maybe a rain or a snow, and then maybe a few easter eggs as I come up with them.

Comments and suggestions are, as always, welcome.
